Trust and editorial standards

How our calculators are built, reviewed and corrected.

Last reviewed 21 August 2026

Our standards

  • Every calculator publishes its formula, assumptions, limitations and review date.
  • Rates and tax thresholds link to the original government or regulator source.
  • Results are always labelled as illustrations, never as offers or advice.
  • We do not invent partners, quotes or rates. Where nothing is connected, we say so.
  • Calculations are covered by automated tests, including edge cases and every UK jurisdiction.

Your data

Calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you type are not sent to us or stored on a server. See our privacy notice.

Corrections

If you believe a figure or a threshold is wrong, tell us via the contact page. We will check it against the source and correct it, and the page review date will change.

Limits of what we can do

We cannot tell you whether a mortgage is suitable for you, whether a lender will accept you, or what tax you will actually pay on a specific transaction. Those depend on your circumstances and are matters for an FCA-regulated adviser, a lender and a conveyancer.
